Cupcake Red Velvet Wine

I keep buying this brand of wine because somehow I keep thinking that it’s going to magically taste like a buttery, creamy cupcake in my mouth….sadly I have yet to have tasted a good wine from them.  I have suddenly realized that maybe the meaning behind the name is that it goes good with a sweet frosted cupcake.  Unfortunately I have none.

Needless to say I started this bottle while cooking dinner and am only about half way through it.  Chalk this up to the “never purchase again” list.

  1. I got this exact wine for my birthday from my aunt. I was so excited because who doesn’t love red velvet? Needless to say… it wasn’t so great. It wasn’t their worst wine though so that’s a plus!

    1. Yes…their angel food cake one tastes nothing like angel food cake either :(( so far my favorite red is sweet red by barefoot for the sweeter side and apothic red for not so sweet red :))

  2. Haha, I thought I was going to hear all about a scrummy cake! There is nothing more disappointing than opening a bottle of wine, and it not being as nice as you hoped, maybe the trick is to always buy 2, just in case!

  3. Awe, that’s a shame you don’t like it. I bought this wine recently and I do like it. I don’t like all of their wines though so I can totally understand how you feel. With a name like Cupcake, their wines should taste a lot better. I bought a wine last week, wanting to try a new brand, and I don’t like it at all. It’s called Mateus and it is just too dry for my taste buds. LOL! Visiting from #foodpornthursdays

    1. Was it a merlot? I drank merlot when I first tried wine and hated it so therefore assumed that all wine tasted that dry…and then…now I love trying new wines and will usually buy one if I love the label…just to try it. Middle Sister is one with a label I love and they actually have a few tasty wines. Thanks for linking up hon!

  4. Um, red wine again. I remember having a conversation about the very same subject, not so long ago. But red wine cupcakes, now that’s a different story. I’m off to the kitchen to a little experimenting.

  5. LOL! I like white wines better than red, but when you find a good red you need to buy all you can! LOL And obviously I am not going to be buying this one. Perhaps you need to use the other half to make a good onion soup or beef stew. It’s alcohol abuse to throw it away, isn’t it???

  6. Ah too bad it doesn’t taste like you’d expect. It’s hard to imagine how they’d get a cupcake flavour into wine. I wonder if you bake cupcakes next to the grapes it they absorb the flavour lol Thanks for being you hun – a fabulous hostess & friend #foodpornthursdays x
