Who Love’s Vodka?

This week I decided to throw my favorite cocktail, Bloody Marys, recipe in for #foodpornthursdays.  I have been requested to make these on several occasions and they are great for “morning starters” while on vacation, or if you woke up and stepped on a lego first thing in the morning.  Anytime really, they can be guzzled down enjoyed.

  • vodka (don’t use the cheap shit either…get yourself some Grey Goose, Ketel One, or Absolut. )
  • Clamato Juice (you can find this in the juice isle and no V8 or tomato juice is not the same thing)
  • A splash of Fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp of horseradish (not the creamy kind…just straight up horseradish out of the jar)
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • Tobasco (to your liking) I like spicy!
  • Splash or two of green olive juice
  • salt and pepper to taste

I use 3 parts clamato to one part vodka. (Sometimes half to half, depending on who I am trying to get tossed)  I usually make this in a batch in a shaker with ice so the ingredients will have to be increased a bit if you are doing the same.  I CAN’T STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT A SHAKER IS FOR THESE BLOODY MARY’S!

Shake Shake Shake…shake shake shake…

Pour over ice and garnish with Celery, Dill Pickle, and Green Olives(I prefer the jalapeño stuffed ones).  You can also salt the rim as long as your cholesterol is in check.

  1. I have never made a bloody mary – but I’m pinning it for one of those “ya never know when you need it” things…. I’m kind of a fruity beverage gal as you might tell from my drink board.

  2. Ohhh I love a Bloody Mary after a late night. The more tobasco the better (I like it hot!) I’ve never tried it with clamato juice but when I worked in Canada I remember it being really popular there. Will give it a try next time. Thanks, Amy x #foodpornthursdays

  4. Lol! I’m drying over the little Kristen Wiig video on there as well as your commentary on the ingredients! “Don’t get the cheap shit!” Hilarious! This looks good! I’ve worked at a million restaurants and Bloody Mary’s are always a good brunch drink. I’ve even seen them made with Absolut Peppar to give it extra spice. Never had it with pickle though. Sounds good. This will be on the menu when I am done breastfeeding! #foodpornthursdays

    1. I have had the Absolut Peppar but just don’t like the taste of it buuuut I have had it with Asbolut Cilantro and that is sooooo yummy but I can’t find the Cilantro flavor anywhere in this small little town of mine.

    1. I would just use less of those two ingredients then. But still use them cause together with the other flavors it’s what makes it soon yummy! I am not a fan of Worcestershire either except in recipes where other flavors are going to dilute it.

  5. omg…my late hubby used to make bloody Mary’s to die for… and I wasn’t even a big fan…yum. He used to start with plain old tomato juice (from tomatoes, not cans or bottles). In fact he used to make his own hot sauce from peppers he grew in the garden. Yep! He was a many splendored thing, all right! LOL

    1. I used to used plain tomato juice but I just didn’t like the thickness of it…once my mom introduced me to clamato juice it was the only one I used…I like it in my beer too! Your late husband sounds like he was a rare gem…so sorry he left this world too soon ((hugs))

  6. I love bloody mary’s! I used to drive over an hour to a restaurant in Atlantic City to the get best ones I’ve ever had. It’s since closed and I’ve had to settle for second rate ones. This recipe looks great.

    1. I only have “spirits” every once in a blue moon since having kids…I swear something just changes our bodies after having babies. I was never a wine drinker until I had babies and now it’s what I prefer. If you like a good red wine look for one called “19 Crimes” it’s a red blend that’s not too sweet but just sweet enough not to be dry :))…thanks for popping by and saying hello.
