~Quote Of The Week December 6, 2015~

 quotes Christmas2015 kids favorite quotes

When I was a child I loved Christmas.  I would count the days starting right after Thanksgiving.  I would watch every holiday show, look at every house I saw with Christmas lights, and check every package under the tree to see if it had my name on it.  Christmas Eve I barely slept and as soon as there was a glimpse of light on my window I was up!

Once I became an adult Christmas just wasn’t the same anymore.  The only thing I really looked forward to was having a day off.  There were some years I didn’t even put up a tree.

Then I had kids…and it all changed.

It’s almost better than when I was a kid because I get to watch all their excitement.  I get to know what it feels like to create that for them.  To watch their fascination as I tell them different things about Christmas and start Christmas traditions of our own.
The happiness in my ❀️ is unexplainable.  Having children is a blessing all its own but having children at Christmas time is truly magical!

  1. Christmas is coming! It is all the more exciting when children are in the house. Our eldest son is two and a bit and understands far more than we realised. He met Father Christmas the other day and had a wonderful time telling him that he wanted a robot and some cake. Too cute! Roll on the 25th December!

    1. We took all 3 of our younger ones yesterday and my son just completely froze when Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas. He had a full on conversation with him about something but just forgot what he wanted when asked.

  2. Very similar experience. For me as a child Christmas coming meant going to the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall and the Rockettes then lunch at the automat. Walking along 5th avenue and looking in all the shop windows. As an adult it also became a day off until our little princess was born and that changed everything. The holiday childhood memories are still the best and every child should have them.

  3. That’s why I normally love Christmas time because I love seeing my kids’ excitement. It’s so worth it for me. This year I’ve been having a little trouble getting into the spirit but hopefully this coming week will help as I drag out the decorations and get the tree:-) #candidcuddles

    1. I had the pleasure of photographing a newborn today in all kinds of Christmas stuff. I have been in the spirit since Thanksgiving but it made me want to bring my kids home and do some Christmas pics with them and I am getting a family photo this Christmas dammit!

      1. That’s awesome! I’m planning on taking lots of pictures of my kids this Christmas with my sister and my niece because they haven’t seen my sister since they were small so I want to make it memorable!

      2. I have been so busy photographing everybody else that I have neglected pics of my own family. I’m hoping to talk hubby into taking a family pic this weekend. There’s a place near here called Paradise NV that has lots of old buildings that are really cool.

  4. I love Christmas and I’m still like that now lol! I must say though, I think it would be even better if I had children as they have such an amazing, infectious excitement at Christmas πŸ™‚ #candidcuddles

  5. Beautiful quote, this is so true. My parents made Christmas so magical and holidays are such a big deal in my family. But then as an adult they lost their magic, and my husband big on the holidays so it made it that much harder. Then I had my son and the magic came back, all the fun holiday traditions my parents started with us, I wanted to pass on. It’s become so magical again. Although I wish my husband was more into it, that is a totally separate subject. It’s so fun seeing Christmas through the eyes of your kids. I hope you guys are having a wonderful holiday season! Thanks for sharing, #candidcuddles.

  6. You couldn’t have said it any better– I feel the exact same way. Christmas just wasn’t as fun when I was in college or during the first few years of my marriage. Along came my little girl, and my heart was once again filled to the brim with holiday cheer and excitement. It’s an incredible feeling knowing that as a parent you can relive so many wonderful memories through your children. Making them happy on Christmas and seeing the excitement in their eyes is priceless!

  7. Oh, Trista I feel exactly the same way as you! Having kids makes Christmas magical again & even more magical than when I was young. It’s my all time favorite time of year & I get excited before Thanksgiving. I’m worse than the kiddies. x

    1. It was just never fun after about the age of 15. I got one present that I picked so it wasn’t even a surprise and then after I moved out I just didn’t really care about it. Now I LOVE it! Kids are so fun this time of year
