Workout Wednesdays ~ Feb 3, 2016

health fitness FitBit weight loss healthy eating workouts

This week was a failed one.  Not only did I fall off the wagon but then it came back and ran me over for a second time.

Last Wednesday night we went out with some friends for dinner and I decided to have a beer…which led to 2 or 3 or

giphy.gif
Got Beer?
….let’s say I stopped counting.  So of course the next day I was hungover didn’t feel up to par nor did I feel much like working out.  Beer…it does a body good right?  WRONG.

Friday morning I went and worked out but it was a struggle.  Let’s face it…in my 40’s it takes more time to recoup from a night of drinking.  Like days instead of hours.  And it just goes to show that what we fuel our bodies with can make or break how we feel.

Then Saturday my hubby and I decided to go into the city for our Valentine’s Day celebration since this weekend is Super Bowl and he will be working the two weekends after that.  Now mind you, we did A LOT of walking that day…cause we were shopping.  I had reached my goal of 20 pounds gone and treated myself to some new workout clothes, workout shoes, and a pair of jeans 2 sizes smaller.

Then we went to dinner…at the Macaroni Grille…where they have bread, and pasta….and WINE!  And let’s just mention the fried calamari too.

Yep I indulged in IT ALL.

There wasn’t even a to go box.

Or any wine left in the bottle.

Therefore Sunday I didn’t go to the gym…I moved around pretty much like a sloth…never leaving my pajamas or my bed for that matter…and I watched TV ALL. DAY. LONG.  I can’t remember the last time I watched that much TV.   It was cold and snowing outside after already dumping a bunch of snow on us the day before so needless to say it was a day to be stuck in the house and the perfect day to be a lazy ass do nothing.

But Monday’s were made for getting back on track!  And that’s just what I did! 200.gif I went to the gym in the morning and to Zumba in the evening.  Also hit the grocery store in between which is a workout in itself.

This is one day’s worth of tracking.  Yep I am proud!

So now I am up against trying to decide if I am going to splurge on Super Bowl Sunday.  My team is playing in case you didn’t know!  Let’s take a vote…do I eat pizza and drink beer or do I stick to my guns and stay on track for the remainder of the month?

And don’t forget that Monday Feb 8 is my #activitytrackerchallenge!  I have a few of you motivated to take me up on it let’s get some more!!!  If you missed the details about it you can read them here.

My results for this week are below.  Even with getting off track I still lost almost a pound…therefore the scale as of this morning says the same as it did last Wednesday!  I am ok with that.  Still shooting for 90,000 in a week.  I WILL GET THERE!

Now get your ass up and get moving!!!

  1. Honestly, I think you should have at it for SuperBowl. It comes once a year and YOUR TEAM IS PLAYING!!! I say, go for it and spend the rest of the month making up for it. You lost 18 friggin’ pounds, which is so amazing, and despite your bad week, you lost another pound. So, treat yourself…Go ahead…you have my support!! I’m looking forward to taking part in the challenge and that right there is going to be extra motivation for you!

    1. Awww! You’re the best! I will probably indulge a bit because yes my team is playing and dammit they have got to win this so that Manning can retire in style! And I can have bragging rights for a year! lol. Although I brag about them anyway. Looking forward to the #activitytrackerchallenge … there will be a few of us so it should be good!

  2. Hmm must be something in the air this week. I went out on Saturday night and got steaming (and I mean steaming) drunk. I was hungover for two days. There fore I did no exersize at all for two days but I got back in it yesterday. Sadly though I haven’t been great with the eating side of things. I haven’t been terrible but I have allowed crisps and chocolate to pass my lips. Anyway, I’m starting the couch to 5k plan on Monday and still continuing with the 30 day shred so it’s not all bad. I just need to reign it in with the treats and alcohol!

    1. The alcohol part is hard…I will admit. Especially when the place we went to with our friends serves what’s called a Michelada(sp) where they mix a spicy tomato mix with a draft Mexican beer and then they put it in an ice cold mug and salt and pepper the rim and put a lime in it. OMG the first one goes down like cool-aid and by the end of the second I was like fuck it…keep em coming. Eating part hasn’t been too hard for me. I usually start my day with a smoothie and have discovered flax and chia seed which makes you feel full longer. I always have spinach and kale in the fridge and frozen fish in the freezer. I love pan seared tuna (make sure it’s wild caught though) with a side of sautΓ©ed kale and spinach…so yummy and will keep you full. hmm maybe I should write a post about what I have been eating lol.

    1. Good strategy there lady. I will most likely indulge and not be moving much on Monday so it will be your chance! I will keep you on your toes the rest of the week though! Bwahahahaha ((that’s my evil laugh)) lol. Thanks for hostessing toots!

  3. My vote (like I even HAVE one) is for Super Hedonism on Super Sunday! Remember, this may be the last time you get to see Payton in anything other than insurance commercials (poor Packer’s fans got blue jeans). Or some pregame segment on Fox. He might wear a Bronco’s jersey in them, but he could just as easily be dressed in Colt’s blue.

Also, it has been my experience that momentous occasions are often enhanced by altered states of reality. Just sayin’. Or is it that on most occasions, my state is altered? I forget.

Remember the Procrastinator’s Creed: “Screw dat! I’ll do it tomorrow.” πŸ˜‰

    1. I always laugh at your comments. You are quite the funny guy and I bet a hoot in real life. I have been working really hard this week at the gym and sticking to my meal plan. Down another pound as of yesterday morning and hope to shed another by Sunday morning. And yes I plan to indulge on pizza, wings, and wine while cheering my team! GO BRONCOS! And yes I am hoping for a victory so that Peyton can retire in style..regardless if I catch him in the future wearing a Colts jersey. I have a best friend whose a Colts fan. We were roommates for awhile and she had a colts Christmas tree. She put it up one year and I told her that if she didn’t take it down I was going to take it outside and spray paint the damn thing orange. She knew I wasn’t kidding. πŸ™‚ Thanks for reading and commenting Rudy…I will pop over to your place in a bit and have a look around. I am way behind this week.

    1. I started working out last year just before spring…got a gym membership and everything and then after about a month just stopped going. It was about the same time I got really serious about my blogging which consumed every free moment I had. Then I realized that even the bigger sized clothes I had bought were beginning to get really tight and when I would see pics that others would take of me I was like “holy crap who is that person” some blood test results were a wake up call too. So I started working out again around October…caved in December and now have been really serious since Jan 1st. Especially since now the bigger size clothes are falling off and I actually put on a pair of jeans that I had kept since before having kids. Yes they were tight but they fit! So now I am seriously on a mission to make 2016 my year to get healthy. Thanks for popping over!

  4. Oh, the slippery slope that starts with “just one glass” and ends with a Jack in the Box drive through the next morning…or something like that!
I say be SUPER good the rest of this week, then have Super Bowl Sunday off. Have you seen the amazing 7 layer steak sandwich you could make on the day?!

It’s not everyday that one’s team makes it to the Super Bowl right? 7 layer steak sandwich? I don’t think my mouth could fit around it.

Thanks Laura πŸ™‚ I have actually been working really hard this week and sticking to my guns so I have decided that Sunday I will celebrate with pizza, wings, and wine while cheering my team because yes it’s not everyday that one’s team is in the Super Bowl. It will be an exciting day in the Souzaville household that day! GO BRONCOS!

    1. I really do feel so much better not drinking. I do miss my red wine though. It was just a thing that I looked forward to in the evenings after putting the kiddos to bed and getting a bit of me time in. I am just on a mission right now to be as healthy as I can be at the end of 2016. It’s my year to get the old me back…and to have more energy to keep up with my kids. They are growing so fast and they play sports and I would really like to coach their soccer this year since all 3 will be playing. Goals…I just want to finally have goals to call my own. Thanks for linking up and being a great support of #momsterslink.

    1. My body has been trying to fight with a cold this week. All my kids have the coughs and runny noses again I am quite certain that they obtained from the wrestling mats and filthy bleachers of the high school gym. **quivers** But I have managed to really push myself this week and stay on track. Have decided that Sunday I will indulge in pizza, wings, and wine while cheering for my team. Then I will shoot for the goal of no junk food or alcohol until the end of March when my birthday rolls around. Fingers crossed for both of us! You can do it girl!

  7. 17K steps?!!! Did you even sit down that day? I thought getting 10K was good. You are fierce!

And I vote yes on indulging for the Super Bowl. I had to have a drink after the AFC game just because they let it go down to the wire and my nerves were shot. I rooted against Peyton Manning for years when he played for the Colts and always beat my Titans, but I am all in for him this time. I don’t see how you can get through it without a drink or two and some comfort foods. Just saying.

Thank you for hostessing the fabulous #Momsterslink

    1. See, when I was drinking wine it actually gave me such great energy. I would clean the house, cook dinner, do the laundry and didn’t even bat an eyelash. Like I was superwoman…wine made me superwoman…this is why I keep asking myself why I quit drinking it everyday???

  8. Oh man I remember those days when I would over-indulge in a few too many drinks and be able to channel my inner sloth for the day. Now I don’t even bother because I don’t want to suffer the implications of parenting while hung over. Good on you for making some memories. Make some more during the Super Bowl. It’s only once a year, right? πŸ˜‰ #momsterslink

Then it will be a goal to stay on track until my birthday weekend at the end of March. And yes kids and hangovers don’t mix at all. I learned that after having my first…he was about 6 months old and we had a fourth of July party and boy did I tie one on. Haven’t done it like that since. Now I just get “I’m tired” hangovers…not the headache and vomiting all day ones.

  10. Wow, that’s a lot in one day! well done! The last time I hit that high on my fitbit, I was completely exhausted. I fell off the wagon last night too — chocolate and cheesecake! Ahhhh….But I will make up for it…I hope. There is always a reason and occasion to indulge, so I would say stick to your guns for this time. Good luck!

  11. Your fitbit stats are WAY better than mine – but I love the graphic you produced! Really did make me chuckle. There is always tomorrow and sounds like you’ve made massive progress with weight loss – a couple of days aren’t going to make much difference at all! Think you need a treat sometimes! xx

    1. Thank you! I agree that splurging from time to time is needed to reward yourself. I know a lot of nutritionists say that once a week is ok but I have tried that in the past and it just doesn’t work for me. After Super Bowl I plan to stay on track until my birthday at the end of March. Fingers crossed.

  12. Your fitbit stats beat mine hands down! Don’t think a couple of days will make a difference – you need a treat sometimes or I think it’s never going to be sustainable! Well done on all the progress so far – it’s not easy!!

  13. I think treating yourself from time to time – or like once or twice a month is fine. Being in your 40’s and drinking is definitely a lot harder than it was in your 30’s or 20’s – maybe just indulge in a small amount of alcohol and enjoy the food you love for Superbowl Sunday. I have found that now that I am in that 40 age range that if I want to see good results from my fitness programs that there really can not be excessive drinking or you just feel like crap and don’t want to workout. Plus I think it really makes you gain weight when you are older. I too hope that the Broncos win. Stopping by from Fitness Friday link party.
