9 More Sleeps

9 more sleeps.

This morning I kept mumbling that to myself in my head whilst trying to get the kids up and ready for school.  I’m pretty sure I mumbled it out loud after telling my 3 year old, for the fifth or sixth time to please go use the potty (because inevitably if I don’t remind her then she waits until she is fully dressed and then suddenly remembers she has to go), I said it out loud and clear after explaining to my 6 year old that YES he must put clean underwear on everyday…even if he doesn’t happen to take a shower that morning…HE MUST PUT CLEAN UNDERWEAR ON!  And what is so hard about changing one’s underwear anyway! UGH!

Oh and let’s not leave the 4 year old out of this, who took 5 minutes to decide exactly what it was she wanted for breakfast.  Like she literally just stood there…staring into nowhere while me, her mother, is about to lose her shit!

motherhood humor overload vacation

It didn’t help that I was awakened for the third day in a row waaaaaay before my alarm was due to go off and when the light started to shine through the blinds and I peeked through them, and what should appear???…..CLOUDS!  Everywhere CLOUDS! NO SUN!!!  It’s the end of March and it’s 27*F when we left for the school run.

Which brings me to my teenager, who has his driving permit.  He took it upon himself by getting in the car before me this morning  and decided that he was going to drive the school run.  As you can see I am still here to write about it but let’s just say that his parking skills are in need of help and I am quite certain that the bottom of my front end has some lovely new scrapes from coming in contact with the curb.  **sighs and grits teeth**.

9 more sleeps.

This is when a long awaited and much needed, KIDLESS vacation begins.  I have checked the weather where we are going and the day after our arrival it is supposed to be 86*F and SUNNY!!!  And you know where I am going to be?  Laying by the pool, basking in the glory of that sunshine.  With sunscreen of course.  And a cocktail. And no one saying “MOMMY, MOM, MOTHER, MOMMY, MOM…???”

Now yes, I know that this is going to be the longest I have ever been away from my kids, and I know that I am going to miss them because even when I have a mommy day in the city for 1 day I miss them, but today I am not sure if my cycle is getting ready to start or I am just plain in motherhood overload but 9 more sleeps can’t get here fast enough!!!

bad day motherhood overload vacation
And it’s not even noon yet!
*Disclaimer:  Love my kids to infinity and beyond but today is a “let’s cut the shit, motherhood isn’t always a bed of roses, sometimes it’s more like a long walk on a bed of legos with bare feet” kind of day!

One nerve away from crazy,

    1. Just one of those days, maybe past couple days actually. And people wonder why I try to get to the gym at least once a day…because it truly does relieve stress but today my hip is hurting and telling me to take a break so out comes Momster lol.

      1. Exercise really does help doesn’t it? I’m a massive Zumba fan and did it for 5 years (including through two pregnancies). My instructor has left though and I can’t bring myself to find a new class as it just won’t be the same! (I know, excuses excuses, *kicks self up the bum!*) Hope you can get back to the gym soon! X

    1. When my husband and I met he had 2 boys…then along came our 3 in 3 years. We have had over nighters here and there when we lived in Vegas because we had his mom to come watch them. I’m very protective over who I let take my kids overnight. Actually only his mom has ever been the one. And since moving 6 hours away we have no family here to help and have been here over 2 years. Needless to say it’s long over due. And the longest I’ve ever been alone with my husband which I’m not sure is going to be a good thing at this point lol. Hopefully we will be getting along by the time Saturday gets here.

  2. lol, love this, I totally feel you. I love my kids beyond what I knew it was to love, and after 3 miscarriages I am so grateful to be a mum, but yes there are days, many days where I am craving some sanity!! So enjoy your trip and make it totally guilt free as you deserve it, all us mums need a break some times! #Momsterslink

  3. Oh, I feel you! Of course right now all I feel is a sore throat and a cough that just won’t quit but my kids have definitely gotten me to that point where I said out loud, “I need a vacation from you too!” You will miss them but know that while you’re enjoying your cocktails on the beach, you will come back a brand new, refreshed mama! Thanks so much for hosting #momsterlink

  5. I definitely related to this post, as I’ve needed a vacay for the past 6 years and there isn’t one anywhere in the horizon for me. I like the bed of legos analogy. Some days are just like that aren’t they?

  6. Oh how I love your pictures! This one is properly brilliant! Sorry you’ve had a rough day. How is it that some days these things are just minor things you can laugh through, and others, make you start twitching a little bit around your eye, trying not to go all ‘Ross and the sandwich’ crazy?! I hope things have improved now and I must say, I am seriously jealous of your holi. Make sure you have a really amazing, for all us mother’s everywhere! 🙂 Thanks for linking! #bigpinklink

    1. 3 more sleeps! I’m counting counting counting!!! It’s actually been a good couple days and I know the day we leave I will be sad and missing them like crazy. But it’s a well needed break. Breaks make mommies better mommies. Thanks for hostessing lovely!
