The End OF The School Year

Yesterday was the last day of school.  It was the last day of kindergarten for my little monster B, the last day of preschool for my little monsters M and Z, the last day of the 10th grade for teenage monster M, and this mommy will be embarking on the fall with a first grader, a kindergartner, one still in preschool, and a junior in high school.

To say the end of this year was crazy is an understatement.

And the blogging has suffered as it’s always the thing that gets put on the back burner when life gets busy.

I have a white board that I keep all events that are coming up listed on so that I can physically and easily look at it everyday…several times a day.  For the last 3 months it has had at least 10 events at a time listed on it.  I am happy to say that as of right now I only have a dress rehearsal, a recital, and some packing,  and then we are off on our first big summer family adventure!

I will admit that I will miss my few hours of “me” time in the mornings over the next few months but I won’t miss the constant chaos that comes with 4 kids in three different schools who all participate in extra curricular activities and me being utterly exhausted by the time I crawl into bed at night.

I’m hoping to get some writing done as I think it’s been a couple weeks since I even wrote anything.

And even though the kids were up at the crack of dawn this morning, it was still nice not to have to get up and get rushed out the door.  I actually finished a cup of coffee.

Here’s to summer and all the new memories to be made!

  1. Hi Trista, well done to your monster M and monster B on their awards this is SO cute! Proud mummy right there. How long do you they have off for the summer break? Mine have 8 weeks (eldest) and 6 weeks (youngest) that’s plenty for me! Gorgeous photo of them having fun in the pool, love kids just being kids. Thanks for hosting another fab #momsterslink from one tired mum to another xx

    1. They will be off until Aug 29th. We have a busy summer planned but today…today I’m just going to enjoy the fact I have absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to be. Thank you for linking up with #momsterslink :))

  2. Aww well done to your children for their awards!! Ours don’t break up until the 23rd July and then we go back on the 6th September I think. Not sure how many weeks that is, usually about six! I’m so looking forward to the summer and making memories, not to mention our summer holiday, but I also know that my blogging will take a big hit as I will have less time to get anything done! Enjoy your holidays and thanks for hosting! #momsterslink

    1. Thank you :)) our summer break here goes until Aug 29th so we have lots of things planned this summer. It was so nice to wake up this morning and just lounge around. And yes last year during our vacations my blogging suffered but that’s the great thing about blogging is that it’s there to return to. Thanks so much for linking with #momsterslink.

    1. Yes today I am taking full advantage of having nothing to do and nowhere to be. As a matter of fact it’s 1:30 in the afternoon and I just now finished a shower. So nice just to catch up on some blogging and relax. Thanks so much for linking up!

    1. We are on day one and so far it’s been nothing but arguing, boo hooing, whining, fighting, and me wanting to sign them up for a summer camp somewhere lol. But Sunday I have a big day outing planned with them so just have to figure out something to do tomorrow. The weather failed me today so everyone has a bit of cabin fever I think. Thanks for reading and commenting!

    1. It’s a catch 22 really. We’ve been hanging around the house for 2 days because the weather was bad and then both my girls got stomach flu and so today I’m going to drive into the city where the state fair is going on and wear them out! And exhaust myself as I’m without hubby and venturing with 3 small kids by myself.

  5. Being able to finish a nice cup of coffee is one of the things you learn to savor as a mom. You sound like a super mom, congrats on your little ones for their awards and for ALL of them for getting through the school year! Good job mama.

    1. Thank you :)) I am very proud of all of them and really looking forward to all our summer plans. Although I must admit that the days we don’t have things planned they seem to drive me a little crazy but that’s mom life.

  6. Wow, it sounds like you have had a super busy time of it!! I hope you have a lovely summer and get to have a rest of some description. Enjoy your holiday xxx

    1. Thank you. 4 more sleeps and we will be on our way to the beach and making our first round of summer family memories. There’s just something about being out of the house that is good for both the kids and mommy.

  7. we still have 6 weeks until our summer holidays start here.. Im on count down, because I won’t have to rush out for the school run (the absolute worst part of my day!) and we have our family holiday coming up too!! Well done to all the kiddies for their awards! super cute! The preteen is in meltdown as we only have 6 weeks left and she hasn’t got even so much as a certificate this term lol – fingers crossed! #momsterslink
