Monday’s Music Mantra ~ Jan 25, 2016

Mondays Music Mantra tunes videoes

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Monday!  I for one had a bit of a rocky start to my morning but I am moving right along now and taking a little time to breathe and listen to some music.

First up is a band that has been around for awhile now.  This particular song dates back to 2009…a year that changed my life forever.

Dinosaur Jr. ~ Feel The Pain

Now I love R.E.M but I happened to catch the rendition of this song by this band on the radio the other day and loved it.  So decided to check out some more of their songs and I am hooked.

Lacuna Coil ~ Losing My Religion  It didn’t have the coding for the video available so just click the link and it will take you to the video.  I promise it won’t disappoint.

This next song came on during my workout this morning and put a little pep in my step.  Sometimes there’s just certain songs that get the endorphins rattled up.  This is one for me.  Plus I happen to love Lady Gaga’s oddness.  It’s put her on the map.  Have you seen her in the most recent season of American Horror Story?

Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce ~ Telephone

Last on my list today is a song that I do believe was the first song my hubby ever said reminded him of me when he would listen to it.  I heard it today and it brought back good memories and a smile.

3 Doors Down ~ I Need You

Have a music mind blowing Monday everyone!

Monday’s Music Mantra ~ Jan 18,2016

mondays music mantra tunes

Hello all my Monday music fans.  Welcome to another Monday’s Music Mantra with DJ DomMom.  **grins**

Hope everyone is having a good Monday since this is actually a day off for most people.  I for one was happy about not having to set an alarm clock.

This first song takes me back…way back…and will forever remind me of a camping trip I took with a bunch of my girlfriends.  It was just an overnighter at Lake Mead, NV, but the memories will forever remain and every time this song comes on it takes me right back to that very night and all the alcohol that was consumed  shit talking that was spoken fun that was had.

Candlebox ~ Far Behind

Of course I have to throw a chic band in here with the mix.  These girls remind me of a band I used to listen to in the 80’s  in my youth when I was a teenager, called “Vixen“.  Their sound is so similar to me.

Halestorm ~ I Am The Fire

So with Vixen being mentioned…why not throw them in here too!

Vixen ~ Edge Of A Broken Heart

I think these guys have become one of my new favorite bands.  I am sure if any of my old band members read this post they would think I had fallen off into the deep end of the music spool, but I just really like all of their songs.

Nothing More ~ Here’s To The Heartache

And for my final song I am picking one that holds a lot of meaning to me.  I have read the lyrics a hundred times…it’s like they have come right from my own thoughts.  Not to mention that Eddie Vedder‘s voice is so distinctive.

Pearl Jam ~ Sirens

Hope you all enjoy my musical picks for this fabulous Monday.  If you are off for the day, then enjoy!  If you are working…well sorry about that.

Monday’s Music Mantra ~ Jan 11, 2016

monday music mantra

Is it seriously almost the middle of January already?

Today is a very special day because 6 years ago on this day I was giving birth to my mini monster B man.  Can’t believe it’s been 6 years.  Happy Birthday my little man!

And now onto my Monday’s Music Mantra picks for this week.

I am not sure how new these guys are but they are new to me.  This song is so catchy to me, and I find myself turning up the volume every time this song comes on.

Imagine Dragons ~ Radioactive

This next song is a song I have grown to love from taking my Zumba classes.  Probably because I know that the class is over and it’s the “cool down” song.  Yes let’s just pretend that it’s not the theme song for 50 Shades Of Gray.  Loved the books but they should have never made a movie out of them.  Unless it would have been in the form of let’s say a porno x-rated film.

Ellie Goulding ~ Love Me Like You Do

Since it is my little man’s birthday and he sings along with this song every time it comes on the radio I must put this in today’s line-up.  I love these guys and have been listening to them for a long time.

Shinedown ~ Cut The Cord

Getting back to my real roots here.  I do and always will love me a good punk rock girl band.  I used to listen to these girls ALL THE TIME.  Think it’s time to dig out some of my old music.

Go Betty Go ~ Saturday

I happened to catch this video on a Facebook post this week.  It’s a great remix of a great classic by Simon And Garfunkel

Disturbed ~ The Sound Of Silence

Quite the eclectic mix this week…but that’s me…never listening to the same beat.

#HappyMonday

Monday’s Music Mantra ~ Jan 4

monday music mantra tunes national trivia dayWelcome to the first installment of music bliss via 2016.  I have been in a bit of a depressed let’s drudge about the past memories only fade kind of mood this week so excuse the selection of “sad whaaa” tunes.

Paramore caught my attention when they first came onto the circuit.  With the theme song from Twilight “Decode” ….yes I read all the books and watched every movie and loved every bit of the books and cursed at the movies.  From the very first time I sat down at the very first movie (first movie date with my husband actually) I hated that it didn’t follow the book what. so. ever.  Anywho…I bought this album after that and have been listening to this song “All I Wanted” on repeat for probably about 7 years now.  My favorite line of the song is “Think I’ll pace my apartment a few times, and fall asleep on the couch, and wake up early to black and white re-runs that escaped from my mouth”.

It’s amazing how one song, no matter how old, can bring back a rush of memories from a time in your life.  Like seriously some songs I can remember every single moment of a certain time that I played that song.  I can remember being in the car, or at home, in a club, crying with a friend, crying by myself, laughing the same way, dancing somewhere, an exact moment in my life that mattered…all because of a song that plays.  This is one of those songs for me.  My favorite line “Don’t tell me if I’m Dying, cause I don’t want to know”.

I left a small town once…and moved to the big city…I remember the last telephone conversation I had with someone…it hurt…a lot.

My husband actually introduced me to the Sick Puppies.  This song stuck with me.  The girl in the video, Emma Anzai, is making an impression about something related to body image, an epidemic that’s influencing our female youth.  Plus she just rocks that bass guitar.

Today also happens to be National Pop Music Chart Day but I took a look at the top hits and the only one worth posting on my page is Adele which I already did a couple of weeks ago.  So instead I am going to honor that it is also National Trivia Day and do a bit of music trivia for everyone.  If you want to play, copy and paste the questions and then create your own post with the answers and leave a pingback to your post in my comments.

  1. Later referred to as a ‘wardrobe malfunction’, who exposed Janet Jackson’s breast for about half a second during Super Bowl 2004?
  2. Shawn Corey Carter is better known by what stage name?
  3. Who is noted for his guitar solo on Stairway to Heaven?
  4. In which American state was Madonna born?
  5. Who rose to fame in 2008 with the release of the single I Kissed a Girl?
  6. Who was Dionne Warwick’s most famous cousin?
  7. London born singer Miss Adkins is better known by what name?
  8. Who had hit singles in the seventies with ‘Atomic’ and ‘Heart of Glass’?
  9. Who wrote the children’s book The English Roses in 2003, which became the fastest-selling children’s picture book of all time?
  10. What band does Adrian Young play for and what position does he play?

Now I know it’s easy to just google the answers but if you KNOW the answers to some or all of these questions play along!sds::c3kf.q''jpg

~Monday’s Music Mantra~

monday music mantraMonday’s don’t always have to suck.  At least not while there is still music to listen to that is.  I am sure that some of you are back to work today after having some time off for Christmas so I am here to brighten your day with a little music choices of what I have been listening to this week.

First up is a group I have been listening to since sometime in my 20’s but had kind of forgotten about until one day I caught this song being played on the radio.  This is Sneaker Pimps “6 Underground”

This song will always make me think of my mini monster B because every time it comes on a certain commercial he jumps up and starts singing it.  This is Rachel Platten “Fight Song”

This is a band I hadn’t heard of.  I happened to be driving home from the city one day when this song came on and I really liked it.  This is Coldrain “Gone”.

I just really like this song.  This is Asking Alexandria “I Won’t Give In”

Yes I know the radio totally outplayed this song but have you heard the story behind the song?  If not, click here.  This is Nothing More “Jenny”.

What’s your favorite song these days?

Monday’s~ Music Mantra November 30,2015~

I have such a love ❤️ for music that I have decided to devote my Mondays to a list of some of what I have been playing on repeat for that week.  And poof!  Monday’s Music Mantra is born.

You can always tell what kind of mood I am in or what is going on in my head by what I am listening to.

Whether I am working out, cleaning the house, taking a bath, or just wanting to get in touch with my emotions…there’s always music to fulfill those moments.

music videos tunes

Adelle “Hello” I actually stumbled upon one morning while I was working out.  I listen to Pandora when I work out and so it plays songs randomly.  The first time I heard this song I was hooked.

Gwen Stefani “I Used To Love You” has been on my list for awhile now.  If you haven’t heard it then you must be living under a rock.  I also wrote a recent post about my thoughts on her recent divorce and cheating husband.

Hellyeah “Moth” This is a great song to run on the treadmill to.  It also makes me think of myself and how I sometimes let my mind be drawn into things that I know aren’t the real me thinking that way.

Five Finger Death Punch “Wrong Side Of Heaven” This song has been a favorite of mine for a long time but I had never watched the video.  It’s powerful.  Especially after such recent events of tragedy and what will never be laid to rest.  While we are all sitting around our holiday tables and enjoying the time with our loved ones…don’t forget those who have lost their lives and loved ones due to hatred, religion, politics, and greed.  And for the veterans who are still here and trying to live with the calamity of where they have been and what they have been through.

3 Doors Down “Let Me Be Myself”  I have been a fan of these guys for years.  I have listened to this particular song a lot lately just because I have been working hard at working on myself.

Happy Monday!
