Quote Of The Week ~ June 13, 2016

quotes inspiration rev run
This quote speaks volumes to me about relationships, including friendships.

In most relationships there’s always one side of the relationship that tries a litter harder, loves a little more, and gives more of themselves to keep the relationship going.

Throughout my life I’ve been on both sides and as I get older I’m starting to realize that some relationships are just not worth my effort any longer.

Quote Of The Week ~ June 5, 2016

I had this quote in my archives from a few weeks ago where I had posted it to Instagram and Facebook.

I had actually meant to use it for a “Quote Of The Week” a while back, but somewhere in my blogging hiatus, not writing much lately, and the new adventure I have embarked on that I will be writing about, it had gotten brushed aside.

I LOVE this quote.  It sums up motherhood perfectly.  Or even parenting in general.  We want to teach them and watch them grow into great adults but we get sad when we’ve actually accomplished it.  Sad that they are leaving us but happy that we kept them alive!

They’re no longer those babies that once looked at us with such admiration.

They’re all grown up.

Quote Of The Week ~ May 16, 2016

quotes, daughters, respect, motherhood, raising girls,

I see so many young girls today who have such low self esteem and absolutely no respect for themselves.

I remember the pressures of being young, fitting in, and thinking “that boy” who was paying you attention was so important.

I want to teach my daughters to think of themselves as being more important than the boy.  That the choices they make need to be made carefully.

Of course they are going to make mistakes and it’s my job as a mother to still love them but to guide them through the mistakes.  To listen instead of just criticize and to set an example by respecting myself.

Quote Of The Week ~ May 1, 2016

quotes inspiration rob thomas lyrics
This morning I was watching my husband and kids walk down to the river before we got ready to leave.  It was a beautiful morning.  Sun was shining, no wind, and a clean crispness in the air.

The happiness and sounds of their laughs made me realize that no matter what regrets I have made in my life, that in that exact moment, that one little fragment of time I was reminded of everything I have to be thankful for.

Them.  My life now.

Sometimes in the smallest of hours is when we need to reflect on not what we’ve done wrong but all the things that have gone right and brought us full circle to this very moment.

Quote Of The Week ~ April 24, 2016

quotes difference being a tomboy raising girls
I have just fallen in love with this picture this week and decided to put a quote with it.

My youngest has not been able to play sports with her two older siblings because she wasn’t old enough yet.  I heard about a Spring dance class and decided that I wanted to sign her up. She’s my girlie girl and loves anything pink, purple, and covered with princesses and sparkles.

I didn’t want her older sister to feel left out so I asked her if she too wanted to try dance.  She is the opposite of her sister and wants nothing to do with long hair, pink, purple, and refuses to wear anything that remotely resembles princesses or sparkles.  As a matter of fact if it’s not a super hero it doesn’t even get looked at.

I explained that the class was ballet and that it would be all girls and wearing pink would be a requirement.  To my surprise, she still said yes.

Yesterday we went to the city for a “fun day” and while there went to a dance store to buy the ballet slippers.  She put them on and I asked her again if she was sure she wanted to do this.  She looked at the pink ballet shoe on her foot and looked up at me and replied, without hesitation, “yep”.

When she wanted to cut her hair I worried that she would get teased about looking like a boy.  Because even at that young of an age kids, especially girls, can be so cruel.

While sitting at the playground one day I overheard a little girl ask her if she was a boy or a girl in which my all of 4 years old daughter replied “Does it matter?” I knew then, at that exact moment, that she was fine with who she was and didn’t care what others thought.

I realized…that somewhere…she had learned to dance to the beat of her own drum.

Proud mommy of an irreplaceable tomboy,

Quote Of The Week ~ April 17, 2016

I guess there’s quite a fine line between someone’s opinion of you and their critiquing of who you are.

It’s kind of like the old saying of “There’s no such thing as bad press”.

I’ve always considered myself pretty good at taking constructive critisicm.  I believe one cannot grow without knowing if others think they are good at something or need improvement.  As humans there are always ways to improve ourselves.

It’s called living.

And I would rather be noticed for saying, doing, and being me than to be a nobody.

Quote Of The Week ~ March 13, 2014

Success has never been made from someone just sitting on their butt.  Well maybe there have been a few but personally I would like to achieve success by getting up and taking control of it. Working for it.  And being proud of myself when I’ve accomplished it.

I may be a stay at home mom, but you won’t catch me just sitting around on my butt very much.  That’s not to say that I don’t have designated lazy days but lately they are becoming less frequent.
